Security camera systems, installed on a network built for them

Cameras are a network device before they are a security device. Installed by one contractor alongside the cabling and the network they run on, rather than bolted onto someone else's wiring.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Security Cameras — questions we get asked

Should cameras be on the same network as our computers?

No. Cameras are a common weak point and belong on their own segment. Putting them on the business network gives an attacker a foothold next to your systems.

Can you add cameras to our existing network?

Usually yes, though it is worth checking whether the existing cabling and switching can carry them before committing to a camera count.
